A-list Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu has shared a picture of him and late comedian Abagana’s daughter and she looks all happy and grown up in it.

He captioned the photo: “Wow! Abagana’s daughter is now a big girl. #HowTimeFlies.”

When Chibuzor Ajaoku also known as Abagana passed on January 24, 2008, he left behind his wife Angela Chukwu and a little daughter who was only a year old at the time.

After the sad incident, a lot of comedians reportedly promised to support the late comedian’s family but according to Angela only Julius matched his words with actions. She also listed comedian Dauda as another entertainer who was there for the family in times of need.

In an interview with Encomium magazine in March 2014, she said of Julius and his fatherly role since the tragic incident:

“Julius Agwu has truly shown that he is Abagana’s father and mentor. In fact he paid for my Law School. When he said it, I did not believe it until my alert convinced me. Dauda has also been there.”

Her marriage with the late comedian was short-lived as it was less than two years but in the Encomium interview, she maintained that she still has a cordial relationship with his family.

Comedian Julius Agwu is known for his philanthropy and this is not the first time he has supported his colleagues in need including those around him.

In 2015, when Afrobeat artist and events host Alariwo was reportedly bed-ridden and in need of $130, 000 for a corrective surgery abroad, Julius Agwu (then having recently survived a near-death illness himself) reached out to the Nigerian entertainer and gave out the sum of N7 million for the medical procedures.

An elated Alariwo said of the gesture: “I was shocked when he called to say he would give me the money.

“Now what I should be looking for is the balance. I want to thank him for this wonderful gesture.” Alariwo has since come out to deny ever being ill or bed-ridden as was widely reported.

In the closing months of 2015, he was reportedly diagnosed with a condition known as varicocele, a situation described in medical terms as an enlargement of the veins inside the scrotum.

However, in a recent chat with Punch Alariwo disclosed that the news about his health were untrue as he was never bed-ridden. He went on to state that talks about him being hospitalized were false. He added that it was his wife who was ill and not him.

He said: “I was never ill or bedridden, contrary to the notion that was spreading round town. I was never at any point hospitalised. I had a surgery in April 2015 to correct a condition which made my scrotum bigger than normal but since then, I have been on my feet. It was my wife that was seriously ill and almost died but I thank God for saving her.”
