Adulthood allows freedom to pursue and experiment with various hobbies and interests. Learning to play an instrument may also be recommended by medical staff, friends, and family members.</span></a></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Human beings are living longer and are afforded the luxury of time to enjoy more hobbies and leisure time interests.</div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Benefits of Playing:</b></div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
</div>
<ol style="margin: 0px 0px 1em 2em; padding: 0px;">
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Playing an instrument is mentally advantageous for learning, memory, and focusing.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Music helps relieve mental stress.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Relaxes muscles</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">It emotionally nurtures creativity and imagination.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Spiritually, music rewards you with freedom, comfort, and a feeling of oneness with the universe.</li>
</ol>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Learning to play a musical instrument gives many of us a leisure pleasure, the wherewithal to share our talents with others, and it widens our social circle. There is no reason to experience loneliness as music lightens our soul and welcomes friendships.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are four categories from which to choose. Select from percussion, string, brass, and woodwind.</div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
</div>
<ol style="margin: 0px 0px 1em 2em; padding: 0px;">
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Percussion refers to instruments that must be struck with fingers, hand, or an object. Drums, piano, and tambourine are three examples.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">String instruments usually have metal strings and produce sound with fingers or a pick. The guitar and banjo are two examples.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Brass instruments are made from brass and have a brass mouthpiece. Two examples wold be the trumpet and the saxophone.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">The woodwind instruments are made from metal. The mouthpiece is made from wood and is called the reed. Clarinet and flute would be included in this group.</li>
</ol>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>How to Select:</b></div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are many different instruments within each category. If you are not interested in American or European musical instruments, review world-wide instruments. They will have different names but they will fit within the four categories or families.</div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
</div>
<ol style="margin: 0px 0px 1em 2em; padding: 0px;">
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Select the instrument that represent your style of music.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">The instrument should fit into your lifestyle.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Space, storage, and maintenance needs to be considered.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Sample different instruments before purchasing.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Talk to others about their musical experiences.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Borrow from a friend or family member before buying.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Rent before buying.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Consider practice time schedule.</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">Is there a good teacher available?</li>
</ol>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Personal example:</b></div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am not a musician but I do respect people who have mastered playing one. The main importance of your selection is that you love it and you enjoy it.</div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I selected the piano as a child</div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I tried a flute which my friend liked and discovered I did not have the lungs for it.</div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As an adult I sampled the guitar, but the strings cut my fingers</div>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Later I enjoyed the drums because I wanted to learn different rhythms.</div>

I couldn't stop laughing when I read Anne-Marie's (not her real name) story:</div>
<div style="background-color: #dddddd; color: #333333; font-family: "Avenir Next", Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

<em>We were going to your book launch that evening and Mr. Cockerel decided: "I'm not getting off in Stellenbosch!"</em></div>

<em>Fortunately, I didn't know how to do it and chose the easy way out - I cuddled the poor thing in front of the heater in one of my warm jerseys.</em></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="background-color: #dddddd; color: #333333; font-family: "Avenir Next", Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

<em>This made me wonder how much we value life: The chicken is worth R35 - the vet will charge me more than the profit I could make from the whole bunch. Do we value people as much?</em></div>
<div style="background-color: #dddddd; color: #333333; font-family: "Avenir Next", Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<em>Last night, when my family thought it was all a joke, my first line of defense was "It's a living being. Yes! It's a chicken, but still a living being."</em></div>
<div style="background-color: #dddddd; color: #333333; font-family: "Avenir Next", Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<em>It doesn't matter how much monetary value we attach to it. It's a living being and everybody deserves a chance. Doesn't matter what you have to face.</em></div>
<div style="background-color: #dddddd; color: #333333; font-family: "Avenir Next", Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<em>So, you know - hopefully the chicken is so tough that nobody ever wants to eat it and I will hopefully be so lucky to have a cock on the farm that will wake us with its crowing in the morning. That's to say if it survives the next 24 hours!</em></div>
<div style="background-color: #dddddd; color: #333333; font-family: "Avenir Next", Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
What a priceless story. A story with many lessons. Everyone on earth has another chance. Yes, we have to keep on caring without looking at the price. Whatever the world says, we keep on hoping and dreaming. What struck me was the cockerel's staying power. Through the mud and oily water, he hung on with all his might. And without the passengers even knowing about him.</div>
<div style="background-color: #dddddd; color: #333333; font-family: "Avenir Next", Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
And in a way that is true for God as well. Without us realising it, God keeps holding onto us. Yes, even in the muddy water where we often find ourselves.</div>

<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<strong>Why Musicians Should Use Business Cards</strong></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
Business cards, we've all had them. Some of us swear by them, others say "neh" and do away with them. Whatever type you are, I'm sure someone's handed you one at some point. And you probably thought, "what the hell am I supposed to do with this?" Or maybe you were like "sweet dude, I'm gonna call you right away." Either way, it probably got you thinking. You may have thought, "wow this person really comes prepared." I seriously doubt you thought, "heh, look this guy, what a dinosaur, still uses business cards."</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
In this article, we're going to take a look at a few things you can do with business cards to stand out amongst the sea of musicians out there, and why business cards for musicians still can be used today.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<strong>Tangibility</strong></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
Okay, it's kind of interesting that in 2018 we're still talking about them. I mean, we're supposed to have hover-boards, flying cars, self-tying shoes, and time travel should be a thing of the past. Sorry, Marty, we're not there yet.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
As the world becomes more and more digitized with things like SoundCloud, Spotify and Facebook it may feel like business cards for musicians are a bit old-fashioned. But are they really? Well, we're humans, so it's only natural that we like the human touch. Handing something that is tangible to another person has much more of an impact rather than another 'like' or 'follow' on social media. In 2016 paper books made a 7% increase in sales while eBooks made a decrease of 4%. A big attributor to this was adult coloring books and children preferring paper books over a Kindle or iPad. What does this suggest? I think it's kind of clear. We don't like everything in our lives to be digital. We like things that have texture and we can hold in our hands. Digital can just get a little too sterile at times.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<strong>Forces You To Network</strong></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
When you learn the knowledge of something for yourself, you take responsibility for it. Similarly, when you spend money on something, you're more inclined to use it. A Facebook page or a Twitter account cost nothing. So it's much easier to give it the old 'oh tomorrow, tomorrow' adage. It doesn't feel too good spending money on that New Year's resolution exercise equipment for it to just sit there, collecting dust. But what happens when you actually use it and you start to see results. You probably feel like a million bucks. Well, when you've spent money on some <a href="http://musiciansprint.com/" rel="nofollow" style="color: #610000;" target="_blank">business cards</a>, I bet you anything you feel pretty good when you start using them and start meeting people. All the while putting you in the right mindset to get you off your ass and get to those networking events or build up the courage to talk to that person that could make the difference.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<strong>What To Put On Them?</strong></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
Your basic setup should be quality stock (stock = type of paper). A nice 16pt paper or 38pt triple layered paper works beautifully. Avoid basic, cookie-cutter designs or images. Make sure your business cards include the following:</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
</div>
<ul style="margin: 0px 0px 1em 2em; padding: 0px;">
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Your name</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Services provided</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Phone number</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">SoundCloud, Spotify, Facebook, or YouTube</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Email</li>
<li style="line-height: 1.5em; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Your website URL</li>
</ul>
Don't overwhelm people with every single social media account you have. Provide the ones you use most and that best exemplify <em>you</em>.<br />
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<strong>Be Creative</strong></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
Your card is a reflection of your artistry to an extent. So it should speak for you. Are you a plain and boring person? Then your business card should be plain and boring. Are you a simple yet modern person? Then your business card should speak of that. Try things like colorful backgrounds, or follow the trends of modern artwork and try to incorporate that into your design. It doesn't have to stop there either. Why not have some funny quotes or descriptions of your services? Don't just settle on 'guitar player' or my favorite 'pianist'. Make the line about who <em>you </em>are. Just don't overdo it.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<strong>Finally</strong></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
Business cards aren't the end all. When you have them, you aren't going to just start booking outstanding gigs and getting more work (maybe you will). They are simply a way of having your information nicely placed for your prospect to take an interest into what you have to offer. Then, that may drive them to your website or demo reels. A good looking business card is just the first step, the rest is up to you...</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
<strong>I ask you this</strong></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">
How many of you musicians out there still use business cards? What are your thoughts about them while we move more and more into digitization. Do people really care about tangibility? Whichever genre you listen to (Reggae, Hip-hop, Hard Metal, Rock n Roll, Soul, Jazz, Classical etc.) there's always an Artist(s) who at their Peak Revolutionized the industry and inspired a generation with their Lyrics, Talent, Songs, Personality, and Performance. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They were like demi gods in their prime worshiped by legions of fans worldwide, captivating us with their songs & lyrics, but their mysterious & untimely death shocked us and left an inedible mark on our lives, making us immortalize them to this day.
But what if they were still alive; would we hold them in awe? Would their Songs, Lyrics or Compositions be revered? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Would their influence & popularity be the same as before they died? What influences our attachment to them when dead than alive? Is it something innate or psychological making us appreciate them more when gone?
It's hard to know what really makes us immortalize such artists, but after reading several articles, </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have advanced several theories to help explain.
"Many things he would try for he knew soon he'd die," "Now Jimi's gone, he's not alone/ His memory still lives on," "Five years, this he said/ He's not gone, he's just dead." "The Ballads of Jimi," by Legendary Guitarist Jimi Hendrix.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These lines baffled fans worldwide, as exactly five years later he was found dead in his apartment aspirated by his own vomit while intoxicated. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Many believed he predicted his own death, and by the lines above I am leaning towards the same, which provided an aspect on my theory why we immortalize them, Artist who predicted their death.
From John Lennon, Bob Marley, David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, and Tu pac Shakur, all somehow predicted their death through lyrics or might have hinted during interviews. With near prophetic precision of their untimely demise, fans were mystified by creating conspiracy theories explaining such premonitions. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With no rational explanations or reasons, fans refused let them Rest in Peace as they continuously searched for any rational explanations.
Thus immortalizing such artists by refusing to let them fade away, by seeking answers to explain how they could've somehow predicted their own death and revering them by trying to decipher such mysteries. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
At age 14, she released her critically acclaimed album, Age ain't nothing but a number, which was certified gold, and two years later her sophomore album, One in a million, selling 8 million copies worldwide and certified double platinum. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Aaliyah Dana Haughton also known by her moniker Aaliyah, achieved such a feat still a teenager, not forgetting her roles in various Blockbusters like Romeo must die.
Just as her star was shining brightly, on August 25, 2001 at the tender age 22 her life was snuffed out by a plane crash in the Bahamas, and after an autopsy traces of alcohol & cocaine was found in the pilot system. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Her demise shocked all worldwide, as fans had not had enough of her exceptional talent, they were not finished with her, and she still had more to offer.
Hence providing another aspect of, Artist gone Too Soon, where we immortalize such artists by refusing to let them Rest in Peace, because their demise came rather too soon & sudden and not giving fans time to comprehend the situation. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Or it can be something psychological or innate; as they hold a special place in our heart, just like our loved ones, hence when they die we keep their memories burning in our hearts thus immortalizing by default.
Whatever reason you have or think of, no one deny the fact that their songs & lyrics played a major role in shaping our lives in one way or another, hence morally obliged to immortalize and keep their memory alive.</div>

Well, some might say that by asking me, you may be asking the wrong person. As a professional music publicist and music marketing consultant myself for hundreds of successful independent music artists, I can only tell you what I have experienced over the last 27 years plus of doing this for independent musicians. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A good music publicist can facilitate interviews for you and get your music reviewed. Its positive impact on your project and career can be more than considerable.
I am writing this article to bring this to the attention of independent artists. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Most indie musicians may feel that their music does not stand a chance out there in the sea of hundreds of thousands of independent music releases annually. Unfortunately, with that kind of competition, this is not far from the truth. Most CD releases, without professional promotion, no matter how good, usually get lost or forgotten. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, a good indie music publicist can move your music to the forefront and bring it to the attention of the industry and the public alike with press, interviews, and music reviews. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As long as your music is noteworthy, this makes generating the exposure and creating the buzz (if you will) much easier. CD reviews, interviews, and the press can do this efficiently if it's done right and by a credible professional music publicist. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Album and single reviews, written by professional music critics on credible music blogs and in the music media are read by thousands of potential fans, music journalists, booking agents, music publishers, and A&R representatives from both major and independent record labels on a daily basis. Professional Music Publicists are the curator of these creative placements. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This being said, there are still a lot of indie musicians that are just now aware of the positive impact favorable CD reviews, interviews, and the innovative press can have on their project and new record release; while accelerating their music career to the next level.
Our Band is on a Shoestring Budget. How Much Does a Publicist Cost? </div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The cost for a professional music publicist can vary greatly, depending upon how good they are, how much experience they have, and the extent and quality of their professional Rolodex (contacts-reach). A lot of musicians don't even bother to inquire on the cost of a publicity campaign with a professional publicist fearing upfront that the cost will be astronomical. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A lot of artists and bands are marketing their music on a shoestring budget, and they believe that they just can't afford the services of a professional music publicist and marketer. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They just keep pounding and going the DIY route. Not because they want to, but feel they have to. If you inquire, you may be surprised how reasonable a publicity campaign can be with an established professional music publicist who is willing to work with you. (willing - being the key word here).
It's unfortunate as well that music media blogs, and credible music critics, much like record labels, do not honor unsolicited requests to review music that is submitted by the artist themselves. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is mostly reserved for professional music publicists and labels with whom they work with on a relatively exclusive basis. It is true of course that money can be a major deterrent to your efforts to solicit the services of a professional. I can only tell you that if you are truly serious about your music, you just need to find a way. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If your music is there, this may be one of the only ways to get it noticed. Simply put; find a publicist who is willing to work with you and your budget. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Work out a payment plan, find an investor. Just do what needs to be done. Save money on other things - not publicity. It is important though to remember not to pick the least expensive publicist. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As with anything else in life - "You Get What You Pay For." Artists that do not professionally market their wares, or stop marketing their music to save money are like those who try to stop a clock to save time. Pretty Crazy --Right?

Popular Nollywood actress, Mrs Rita Edochie said she was a victim of sexual abuse many years ago and called on parents to regularly communicate with their children. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Edochie revealed this in an interview on Wednesday in Abuja.
Edochie, who was a guest at a seminar to end violence against children, told NAN that she was sexually violated at a young age by a family friend.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“I was a victim of sexual abuse; that was when I was in primary six; I was going to the hospital and somebody called me. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The boy used some diabolic means and sexually violated me; when I could not see my period, I refuse to tell my mother, because she was very strict. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“I love sharing my experience because at the end of the day I succeeded; If I had not succeed, I would not have been able to be saying it,” Edochie said.
She explained that the pregnancy was about seven months before her mother noticed it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Edochie added that her mother was shocked at the pregnancy because she thought her being strict would not allow such a thing to happen. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“My mother asked how it happened and I told her everything; my brother picked a knife and wanted to kill me, but my mother stopped him. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It happened that the mother of the boy that violated me was my mother’s friend; the boy’s mother was surprise but the boy denied. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“My mother took me to hospital to abort the pregnancy with a plan of taking me to my grandmother’s place at ‘Ogede’ to stay for one week before returning home. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“I told her I may lose my life in the process; and because she loved me, she then aborted the planned abortion; I feel it was God that spoke through me. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to the actress, “my mother took care of the baby while I went to school; if not for my mother I would not be where I am today.” </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The veteran actress called on parents to communicate regularly with their children and make them their best friends. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Parents should always listen to their children’s complaints on happenings both in and outside the home.”</div>

<b>My Lips Gave Me The Name Kiss- Kiss Daniels</b> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Fast rising singer, Kiss Daniels is one of the promising young Nigerians with a future in the ever competitive and dynamic entertainment world. In this interview with SAMUEL ABULUDE, the singer whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, speaks of his rise to fame, challenges and his album concert holding this tomorrow. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
How are preparations towards your album concert?
Preparations are ongoing, I’m bringing my A-game to the party. Same with other artistes. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fans should come and watch and excellent concert.
How did you get all these artistes to perform at your concert?
It is the marvellous work of my label. G-Worldwide Entertainment. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The likes of 2Baba, Banky W, Patoranking, Yemi Alade, Iyanya, Burna boy, Tekno, Reekado banks, Cynthia Morgan, Wande Coal, Vector Da Viper, Sugarboy, Ycee, Young6ix and others are storming Eko Hotel on Sunday. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also comedians like
AY, Akpororo, Ushbebe, Sheyi Law, Pencil will be cracking ribs. It’s gonna be lots of fun out there. My album concert will set a New Era for artistes in this part of the world.
How did you come to answer Kiss Daniel? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The name was actually given to me when I was in secondary school. Some girls for no reason, maybe because of my lips, started calling me Kiss. It kind of stuck with me for a long time so that when it was time to get a name for my brand, Kiss Daniel came in naturally.
At what point did you know you would earn a living from music? </div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was doing music while I was in school. I think it was when I got signed. I got signed during my service year. It seemed that God planned everything because when I was in school I didn’t get a record label and it was like there was no way for me. But immediately I left school, I got signed. I actually told myself that if after I leave school I don’t get signed that I will go to the UK, get my masters and focus on white collar jobs. But fortunately for me, right after I finished school, I got signed and in that same year I released a song that took the whole Africa by surprise. It all happened very fast.
People have said you have been in the industry for long, but got your break in Woju. How would you clarify this? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Though the flare for music was there in my school days, I couldn’t do much on my own at that time. Everything was low key then. It wasn’t until G-Worldwide Entertainment signed me in 2014 that I started professionally. I dropped Shoye that year and then Woju. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, professionally, music career started the same year I released Woju.
Was Woju inspired by any personal experience?
What I sang about in Woju is what people experience daily. It’s a personal thing in everyone’s life. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There is usually that one person you love but couldn’t walk up to.
Was there a time you wanted to give up?
Yes, even till now, some people are still discouraging me. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There were times when I wanted to give up, but if I give up I will be losing sight of my purpose. My purpose is to use my music to correct some societal ills. First you have to look at the way I drop my songs. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I dropped Woju, you would see a flirty kind of person. But Laye is talking about a loving person, somebody that will give you everything even if you jilt him. Raba and ‘Good Time’ address club life with a different touch. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
People say you sing about women most of the times. What social ill would you be addressing with your kind of music?
It is not that I have a special attraction for women. I actually notice other things in the society, but then it just happens that the songs I drop happen to be that kind of songs. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It’s like shopping. Before you go shopping, you already have a list of what you want, but once you enter and begin to see other fancy things, you abandon what you really came to buy. But somehow you get the needed stuff. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That is the way it is with my music. But everyone will get the whole message in my album. My album has seventeen tracks with three bonus tracks.
Can you tell us about your forthcoming album?
The album is titled New Era. Nigeria is currently in a new era and I want to pass that same message to my fans. There are no collaborations in the 17 track album. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The collaborations I had is with my label mate called Sugarboy. I featured him on three tracks .The album is a story and the best person that can interpret the story is Sugarboy. He knew me when I was hustling and suffered with me.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I can’t feature someone in an album that won’t understand what I am trying to achieve. That is why there are no known collaborations in the album.
Why did you feature Davido and Tiwa Savage in your Woju remix?
The truth is it is not only my stand alone that matters. I have a record label. The record label has a team of industry stakeholders and critics, who selected songs for the album. So, they made their positions known on the songs including Woju remix.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Personally, I got Davido and Tiwa Savage on the Woju to help push the song. They did a fantastic job. As for getting the song the album, or not collaborating with any big artistes for the new album, it was deliberate. The album is a personal thing for me. I think I am more than capable to pass the message on my own. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
New Era is a message coming from me to the fans. I don’t think I need anyone now to help pass the message, except Sugarboy. Hopefully in other albums, I will features other artistes. For instance, I have already done featured Wizkid in a song. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And intend to have many more collaborations during the year.
What do you hope to achieve with New Era?
I want to correct the impression that good music doesn’t sell. I heard a lot of that when I was starting out. I was advised to, you know, shout, say nasty things and all what not if I wanted to blow. But I felt that good music still stands a chance in our industry. Recently I went to a club, when suddenly Woju was played and people were screaming. But I was like, “It’s been two years or so now”. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Then I realised that a good song is not bound by time. Good songs last long. It cuts across all age groups and gender. In a nutshell, good songs are universal. I want my songs to be good, clean and free of unpleasant words or expressions. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What would you regard as your greatest sacrifice for music?
My five years in school. I wanted to become a great engineer. I studied Water Engineering, similar to Civil Engineering and I finished with a 4.32 CGPA. For you to know that I actually studied. But after spending five years studying the course of my dream, I left it for music. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That is my greatest sacrifice for music.
Does it make you feel bad sometimes?
Yes, I feel bad sometimes. My mates are already established in their fields. Some of them call me. Some of them are doing all right for themselves. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now, it seems my five years is gone to waste. But it is because I love music that I am here. I am not a fan of corporate wears. Maybe that contributed to the reason I dumped Engineering for music.
Who motivated you the most to do music? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My dad. He was a very caring and loving person. He was very supportive of my music career. He was the one that gave me my first money to record a song. He did not force me to do anything. I told him I wanted to do music when I was in school. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He only told me to finish my education first.
What is greatest principle he bequeathed to you?
My dad told me to be patient while doing the right thing. He said that it might seem like it is not working, that it is not the right thing, keep</div>

Chinagorom Onuoha aka African China , the singer, famed for phenomenal tracks such as ‘Mr President’ ‘If You Love Somebody,’ and ‘Crisis’ went under the radar after he was embroiled in a rape scandal in the United Kingdom about 10 years ago. </div>

However, Vanguard reports that the young Ajegunle-born singer has decided to tow a different path business-wise. He is now the proprietor of a hair salon known as Chyna Town Unisex Beauty Salon, which is located at Festac, Lagos.

<div style="text-align: justify;">
In an interview with Encomium magazine in March 2014, she said of Julius and his fatherly role since the tragic incident: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>“Julius Agwu has truly shown that he is Abagana’s father and mentor. In fact he paid for my Law School. When he said it, I did not believe it until my alert convinced me. Dauda has also been there.” </i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Her marriage with the late comedian was short-lived as it was less than two years but in the Encomium interview, she maintained that she still has a cordial relationship with his family. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Comedian Julius Agwu is known for his philanthropy and this is not the first time he has supported his colleagues in need including those around him. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In 2015, when Afrobeat artist and events host Alariwo was reportedly bed-ridden and in need of $130, 000 for a corrective surgery abroad, Julius Agwu (then having recently survived a near-death illness himself) reached out to the Nigerian entertainer and gave out the sum of N7 million for the medical procedures. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
An elated Alariwo said of the gesture: “I was shocked when he called to say he would give me the money.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Now what I should be looking for is the balance. I want to thank him for this wonderful gesture.” Alariwo has since come out to deny ever being ill or bed-ridden as was widely reported. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In the closing months of 2015, he was reportedly diagnosed with a condition known as varicocele, a situation described in medical terms as an enlargement of the veins inside the scrotum. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

He said: “I was never ill or bedridden, contrary to the notion that was spreading round town. I was never at any point hospitalised. I had a surgery in April 2015 to correct a condition which made my scrotum bigger than normal but since then, I have been on my feet. It was my wife that was seriously ill and almost died but I thank God for saving her.” </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b> Estranged actress Toyin Aimakhu’s boyfriend, Seun Egbegbe, has come out to reveal what exactly happened between him and the actress. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He explained how people around him called the actress a prostitute, how he gave her everything including his Range Rover but got defamed by the actress in the end. Read what he said, according to Best of Nollywood, below: </div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;">Toyin Aimakhu and ex-lover, Seun Egbegbe </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
”On the fateful day I left Toyin at home where we both live and went for a meeting, she left for a location and hours later my phone started ringing and people started saying the “prostitute you put at home is crying on instagram over another man”. </div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>”I called Toyin immediately and I said what is this I am hearing and that even if you are going to do anything why didn’t you tell me your boyfriend so I can know what to tell them? I expected her to remove it but hours later it was there and I had to rush to the location where I seized her phones but I left my range rover which I had been allowing her to drive to shore up her image as a Nollywood star with her though. </i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
”A few hours later I saw about 10 missed calls and I called back it was one Taiwo Adepekan she is an upcoming actress who said that she was coming with Toyin to beg me and I said she should finish her job because what do I want to do with the phone anyway,it was because of the love I have for Toyin that made me take her phones Cos I thought she was making a fool of her self and was also being unfair to our relationship. I would have dropped her phone eventually cos when I took her phone she still had my range rover anyway. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
later, I started getting calls again that Toyin has been kidnapped and they alleged that I was the one that kidnapped her and I was shocked beyond words. I then got a call from Taiwo again saying Toyin had gone to report to a woman in Alausa and she was angry with Toyin that why are you doing this, he took just your phone while you still had his range rover so why are you doing this?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
”I am shocked Toyin behaved this way, when we started dating I had 2 cars a range sports and Honda crosstour which was stolen, I gave Toyin the range while I took cabs around town spending an average of 10,000 daily and I gave her the best to make her happy and I don’t know why she will repay my love, kindness and all with all this defamation of character and destruction of my name.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
” Recall that after the brouhaha, the beautiful actress who was in the news almost everyday at that time, publicly denounced her love for Egbegbe.<br />
